Rondo Days Parade

The Rondo Parade weaves around I94 starting near Lexington and almost making it to the cathedral. O-O-O Obama was the chant for most of route. Indeed the crowd was very very enthusiastic for Obama. There were many Obama tshirts in the crowd. Behind the Obama banner were people from many campaigns, people in Obama shirts, in Franken shirts and in McCollum shirts all marched together! "

And this is what the crowd was like. The first tshirt says "Black Folks Must Vote" and "Change" is written inside the word "Vote". The second set of shirts were Obama pictures in gold. Then another Obama shirt. People cheered and smiled all over. I especially liked the lady just peeking out over her back fence.

Our great and wonderful US Representative Betty McCollum was walking with us!

Melvin Carter the magnetic first-term city council member who represents the first ward was there!

A very large very bored motorcycle group slowly drove through the parade. I think they should have been first. Or doing maneuvers in the street.

I love this picture, these guys know how to pose! Education was a major theme where many local schools marched, the book mobile and many universities. Many community clubs and outreach groups were there.

The police reserve helped on the street intersections and some police were on bicycles.

Many faith groups were represented include one group of churches who put a piano on a wagon with the choir and sang the whole way.

As you can see by some of the pictures that there were houses and flowers that were outstanding.

A professional football team!

Many radio stations were represented. Wells Fargo had the best commercial entry with the horses and carriage.

Marketing the next greatest rap group starts in the Rondo parade. They are Deff Rock Oso at 612 827 6163! I sure they would love you to call them!

And now for the drum roll and group picture!

As I walked back, an Obama crew were voluntarily cleaning up the streets. A few blocks later the city service crew were cleaning up the rest.
