BREAKING NEWS: State GOP has some serious problems with their accounting
Yikes!
Stop the Presses! (Do we have presses anymore?)
The Republican party in Minnesota has some serious accounting problems that the Federal Elections Commission is investigating.
At a press conference last week, ironically called by the IR party to stick the knife into Al Franken for re-filing taxes in states where he earned his income, state IR chair Ron Carey was confronted by what the Strib called "a left-leaning blogger" about the hypocrisy of the IRs in trying to evicerate Al Franken for re-filing the mistakes his accountant made. According to the Strib, Carey was blustering:
Carey dismissed him, saying the press briefing “is something for our credentialed media here.”
State GOP
Has Its Own Bookkeeping Woes
It's a good belly laugh. Cudos to Andy Barr and the rest of the Franken campaign for having the class to not pile on.

And that blogger was, your very own TwoPutt!

So, I started off: “Mr. Chairman, under….” and was immediately cut off by republiCon Ron, who essentially said “Tom, this is for traditional media, I’m not answering your question.”
Serious Accounting Issues???
I would suggest two things.
1.Understand that Al Franken's tax issues were very minor
regardless of what you have read in the press.
2. The MNGOP accounting issues are not "serious." Contact the FEC and you will not hear that the MN GOP case is "criminal" nor "nefarious."
Please stop hyping the supposed misdeeds on both sides.
Sincerely,
Tre Bagley
mnblue hypocrisy
3. The mnblue's hypocrisy prevents the intellectually honest from taking the blog seriously. This is a fact; many comments get deleted based on not aligning to far-left ideology. Centrist views and right-leaning comments will be deleted! The free flow of ideas and opinions will not be tolerated at mnblue. Hypocrisy, plain and simple. Then they cry about Ron not taking questions from Tommy. ha ha ha ha
It is not the accounting issues, it is the hypocricy
Tre, it is not the accounting issues, it is the consistent hypocrisy.
I worked for a company that provided conference space, catering and entertainment for a republican sponsored event several years ago. The total bill was over $50,000. The republican party of Minnesota paid about $20,000, then said the person who organized the event was not authorized to spend that much so they were not going to pay the rest. Ron Eibensteiner wrote a personal check for $9,000, and our company wrote the rest off. It was sickening a couple weeks later when I saw Eibensteiner on Almanac talking about how the republican party was the only party who could control spending, they couldn't even control themselves.
May I quote you?
Is this a matter of public record? Can you safely provide more information? I have friends who are counting on making money from the RNC. Can you require payment upfront?
